Join the YSB Board of Directors

The Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is seeking new directors to join our talented and accomplished Board of Directors. Join us in shaping decisions that will affect thousands of young people across our community and sharing your experience and expertise with our dedicated management team.

While we welcome all applications, we are prioritizing the following areas of expertise:

  • Not-for-profit leadership/experience
  • Youth & family services (education, housing, mental health, youth justice)
  • Public policy and advocacy
  • Non-profit housing/property management and development

YSB recognizes and embraces the value of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences across the YSB team, including on its Board. Diversity is an important consideration in identifying and assessing candidates for nomination to the Board, which aims to be reflective of the community YSB serves.

Applications from those who have lived experience in one of the service areas supported by YSB, as well as candidates who are racialized, Indigenous, living with a disability, or members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community will be given strong consideration. Bilingualism is also a strong asset.

YSB is one of the largest and most comprehensive non‑profit agencies serving youth in this community. More than 350 caring professionals work from 21 locations across the city to deliver a vast range of programs and services that support at‑risk youth and their families.

The range of support and services provided to youth across our region includes:

  • Mental Health services
  • Community and Housing services
  • Employment services
  • Youth Justice services

YSB plays a leadership role and works in close collaboration with other agencies and groups in the community that are dedicated to providing the best possible services to our clients. We continually draw on and expand our expertise in our day-to-day dealings with the 2,500 to 3,000 people who come to YSB each month.

YSB’s Board of Directors is the governing body of the organization. Its role is to articulate our mission, set our strategic direction, define our goals, and monitor our performance against these goals. Board members are required to attend monthly meetings, to contribute to a board committee, and to attend other meetings and events as required.

If you are interested in applying to be a member of the YSB Board of Directors, please submit a cover letter and your résumé to interest@ysb.ca.
