Shawana Shah is a Registered Social Worker with expertise in leadership, program development, and community collaboration. Fluent in four languages, she holds dual master’s degrees in counseling and educational psychology and has remained an active Mental Health First Aid Trainer for the last 10 years. Currently serving as the Manager of Community Mental Health at Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre, Shawana leads a dedicated team in delivering high-quality mental health services and falls prevention programs. Additionally, she is the Co-Founder and Director at Ottawa Muslim Community Services, where she manages counseling and training services with an emphasis on supporting BIPOC communities. Shawana’s prior roles include working as a Clinician at the Roberts Smart Centre Secure Treatment Program, where she supported youth facing complex trauma and mental health challenges, as well as serving as a support worker with the Pathways to Education Program, assisting underprivileged high school students and their families. Having been born and raised in Ottawa, Shawana is dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being within the community through her professional and volunteer activities.
