Uday Singh Jaswal is an Ottawa native who has served as a police officer for 23 years, most recently as a Deputy Chief with the Durham Regional Police Service. Prior to that, Uday spent 21 years with the Ottawa Police Service, where he rose to the rank of Superintendent.
Uday’s proven leadership and his unique combination of operational, investigative and community policing experience with two Ontario police services, make him an ideal candidate to support the OPS’s ongoing mission of serving the rapidly changing community safety needs of communities and residents across Ottawa.
In addition to his work in policing, Uday is a devoted community builder. He is a past Chair of the Board of the Directors for the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa and currently serves as a Board Member with both Kinark Child and Family Services and the Family Mediation and Resource Centre (in Durham Region).
Uday has several advanced degrees and certifications including a Master of Public Administration Degree from Queen’s University, in Kingston, Ontario, and the Canadian Certification in Risk Management. Uday also lectures regularly, nationally at the Canadian Police College and internationally, at the National Police Academy of the Indian Police Service.
