Thank you to the Home Depot for your donation of $100,000 to support and raise awareness for Youth Homelessness in Ottawa.These funds will enable us to carry out much needed renovations to the young men's shelter and enhance our Youth to Homes Initiative for youth residing in YSB's transitional apartments.

Derek Mainville from CIBC presenst a cheque for $20,000 at the YSB SleepOut event at City Hall. All the monies raised will go directly to help and support youth living on the streets.

John Brooman, CEO/President of the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation presents a cheque to YSB charitable Foundation's for $125,000!!

The Ottawa legal community has a proud tradition of philanthropy, and we want to sincerly thank the team behind the recent Lawyers' Play, who together raised over $10,000 and was this year’s charity partner, Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa. The Lawyers' Play, Gore Vidal's The Best Man, presented YSB's Jane Fjeld with a cheque on May 8 at the GCTC.


Debra Ranney presents the Foundation with a cheque for $7171.30, the proceeds from the Stephen J Ranney Foundation’s LOVE event.  The money raised from this special evening of dining and dancing will go towards the Youth Mental Health Walk In Clinic.

Janet Osborne presents the YSB Foundation with a cheque from the proceeds of the “James Strikes Back” Bowlathon. The event raised close to $4000.00 for YSB’s life saving mental health programs. Thanks to Janet and Pat Osborne for all their hard work putting together this amazing event.

Janice Barresi, Yasir Naqvi, Joanne Lowe and Chief Charles Bordeleau come in from the cold for breakfast, after participating in the inaugural “Sleep Out for Youth Ottawa”.  Over 115 participants slept outside City Hall on February 4, 2013, to raise money and awareness for youth homelessness. Over $35,000 was raised, which will go to 4 organizations, including YSB, for programs supporting youth who are homeless, or at risk of being homeless. The event concluded the morning of February 5th, with a breakfast sponsored by Bell, in support of YSB’s Toque Tuesday campaign. A big thanks to Bell for sponsoring the breakfast, Bridgehead for providing warm beverages to the sleep out participants all night, Bushtaka for donating tents, and to the Mayor and City Hall staff for all their support in making this an incredible event!!

Jason McCormick, Principal at Cowan Insurance presents Janice Barresi, YSB Foundation with at $20,000.00 cheque.  Over the past three years, the Cowan Foundation has contributed $60,000.00 toward the YSB Mental Health Walk-In Clinic.

Telus presented the YSB Foundation with a cheque for $20,000.00.  This very generous donation will go towards funding the Spectrum Youth Group and as the sponsor of an Employment Fair in January. Thanks to Glenview Homes for donating 2 children’s playhouses for raffle, in benefit of YSB. Ottawa City Councillor Allan Hubley drew the names of the lucky 2 winners.Thanks to Glenview’s generosity, $4270.00 was raised to support our programs.

October 27, 2012 -  The 2nd Annual Bell Kaleidoscope of Hope Gala raised $60,000.00 for YSB, DIFD, and CHEO.  In attendance was the gala’s Honorary Chair Laureen Harper. TSN on air personality Jennifer Hedger and Steve Madely from CFRA co-hosted the evening, and TSN’s Michael Landsberg delivered the keynote address discussing his battle with depression.  Thank you to the organizers of the event, Sharon and Tony House, to all the sponsors, Bell as the title sponsor, and to all the volunteers who made this a very special evening.

YSB was selected as the beneficiary of the 3rd Annual Ottawa Police Gala that was held October 20, 2012 at the Ottawa Convention centre.  The event was a huge success, raising $127,000 for YSB programs. A huge thanks to Chief Bordeleau, Deputy Chief  Larochelle, Superintendent Dan Delaney and the entire organizing committee, and all the sponsors, for their support of YSB and youth mental health.

Saunders Farm held a special evening, celebrating Jamie Hubley’s dream of Acceptance for all.  The event raised $ 7000.00 for YSB Mental Health programs.  A big thank you to Mark and Angela Saunders, and all the staff and supporters of this amazing night.  In the photo from left to right: Linda Bordeleau, Chief of Police Charles Bordeleau, Janice Barresi, Mark Saunders, Allan Hubley, Angela Saunders.

Andre Rodrigues from Fashion 613 presents a cheque for $1000.00 from their” Runway for Hope” Fashion Show on July 25, 2012.  Proceeds from the event will go to YSB programs preventing youth suicide.

The Ottawa Charity Ping Pong Tournament 2012 raised $26,500 this year for 4 youth serving organizations, including YSB. Thanks to Mike Fitzpatrick and the tournament’s organizing committee for an amazing evening of music and fun!!

Barry and the Blasters, a local charity blues band, directed funds raised from their latest gig on October 13, 2012 to the YSB Charitable Foundation. This amazing night of music raised over $3100.00 for YSB programs.  Big thanks to the band!!

Hassa  Mirchandani, from Bytown Travel, presents Chief Charles Bordeleau, YSB Foundation Board Chair, and Dennis Jackson, YSB Foundation Board 1st Vice Chair, a cheque for $5900.00.  Thanks for the very generous donation.

KPMG staff recently volunteered to lend a helping hand to YSB on September 19. Staff did a variety of tasks at various locations throughout the city. Special thanks to Linda Cruz for coordinating the day. Thanks KPMG!

 

Staff from FunHaven presents the Foundation a cheque for $2360.00, raised from their Blanket – Fort Party held August 25, 2012.  A big thanks to David Ellis and his staff for putting on an amazing event to benefit YSB!

YSB was selected as the top tier charity this year at the Tim Horton’s Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival.  A great time was had by both teams entered in to the festival.  Thanks to the festival staff for putting on a great event, raising $400,000.00 for the 7 local charities.

Volunteers from KPMG do a spring clean up and planting of vegetables at the YMES on June 11, 2012.

Volunteers from KPMG raise money for YSB through a “penny drive” at their office.  Thanks to all the volunteers who helped raise  close to $600.00!!

Once again, YSB was the Official Charity of Westfest this year.  Thanks to all the volunteers who supported our fundraising efforts at the festival.

Sheila Greene from the Kanata Centrum Mall and Bruce Bock  from Classic Amusements present Ted Charette a cheque for $500.00 at the Summerfest celebration on June 2, 2012.  In spite of a mostly rainy day, close to $2000.00 was raised for YSB Mental Health programs.

KPMG staff dropped by the William Hay Centre for a friendly game of basketball with the youth on May 23, 2012.   A great time was had by all, with the youth particularly enjoying the post game chat in the yard while having a snack and cooling off.

Thanks to Bell employees who gave our Riverside office a new paint job and a spring clean up on May 11, 2012, as part of Child and Youth Mental Health Week.

On March 23, the Ottawa 67’s hosted a game in memory of Jamie Hubley, just through ticket sales over $2,000 was raised for the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa.  A big thanks to Karen Barber who was key in organizing this event, and to all the youth volunteers who sold “acceptance” bracelets and t shirts at the game.

Russell Fisher from CIBC presents Dan Sabourin, Director of Community Services, and Janice Barresi a cheque for $15,000.00.  Thanks to CIBC for all their support, including the financial literacy workshops they deliver at The William Hay Centre!

The team from Intact Financial Corporation, the National Sponsor of the Raising the Roof Campaign, selling toques on “Toque Tuesday”. This is the second year Intact has supported YSB inselling toques across the city.
